Time to change the controller backup battery

Overview

Applicable Errors:

2103 - Time to change the controller backup battery

6103 - Warning: Backup battery low voltage

 

 

Error Description: 

The scheduled 2 year memory battery change date setting in the controller has passed, or the voltage of the memory backup battery in the controller has dropped below the permissible level. 

  

Possible Remedy: 

Replace the memory backup battery in the controller and reset the battery change reminder parameter in the controller. 


Tools and Parts Needed

Computer with Wincaps III

Lan Cable or RS232 cable. 

#2 Phillips Screwdriver


Note:
The battery in the RC7 controller is responsible for maintaining parameters, calset values, and variables. To reduce the chance of data loss, extract a Wincaps III project from the controller prior to powering down the controller.


Step by Step Guide


Step 1

Use Wincaps III to extract the project from the controller. 

How to create a new Project in WINCAPS III : DENSO Robotics KB

Step 2

Replace the RC7M memory backup battery.

Replacing Memory backup battery (RC7/RC7M) : DENSO Robotics KB

Step 3

Set a new battery replacement date in the controller.


Setting RC7 next battery replacement date : DENSO Robotics KB

Step 4

Update the controller cover label to reflect the new battery replacement date.
