How can I find out if my RC8/RC8A controller is NPN or PNP?

Answer

There are a few different ways to find out if your RC8 or RC8A controller is currently configured for PNP or NPN I/O.

• The nameplate on the top of the controller lists the controller type.  Character F signifies what the I/O type is at the time of manufacture.

• Another way to check is on the Teach Pendant: 
  • From the main screen -> Settings -> System Info -> General Tab
    • 
• Another way is to physically open the controller, and view the Mini I/O card directly.  The I/O type is screen printed on top of the card and can be viewed easily if there are no Fieldbus cards in the way
