Creating a Bootable USB

The following steps are used to create a Bootable USB for installing Ubuntu. If the user wants to select another document, return to the Introduction document to view all of the other links to the other documents for setting up the COBOTTA. If a Bootable USB has already been created, move onto the Installing Ubuntu document.

Note: 
This document will require the use of either a laptop or computer to create the Bootable USB to install Ubuntu.

Step 1:  Insert a USB stick into the computer's USB port.
Step 2: Download the Ubuntu amd64 ISO file into the downloads section of the File Explorer using the provided link (Ubuntu ISO File). For this procedure, the Ubuntu 18.04.4 ISO file was used for installation.
Step 3: Download and install Rufus into the computer/laptop.
Step 4: Once Rufus has been downloaded, open the Rufus application to begin creating a Bootable USB stick.
Step 5: Rufus should be able to detect the USB device, but if not select the proper device using the Device drop down menu.
Step 6:  Under the Boot Selection drop down menu, select FreeDOS.
Step 7:  Click on SELECT, next to the Boot Selection drop down menu, and open the ISO file.
Step 8:  Click on START, towards the bottom right, to begin the write process.
Step 9:  Rufus may display an alert window that requires additional files to download. If this window does display, click on YES to allow Rufus to download the required additional files.
Step 10:  Rufus will display an ISOHybrid image detected window, select Write in ISO Image Mode and click on OK.
Step 11:  Rufus will display a warning image that the selected device will be destroyed. If the device selection is correct proceed onward  by clicking OK.
Step 12: The ISO file will then begin to be written into the USB stick. The bottom of the application will display a Status Bar. Wait till the Status Bar is completed and the word Ready is displayed inside the center of the Status Bar.
Step 13:  Once the word Ready is displayed in the center of the Status Bar, click close to complete the write process. The Bootable USB is ready to be used.
