Overview
The encoder built in the servomotor stores position data. To prevent the position data from being lost, the encoder backup batteries supply power to the encoder memory.
Periodically replace the encoder backup batteries that are loaded in the robot unit. In the event of using the external battery unit, replace the battery of the external battery unit.
This procedure applies to the following robot types: VS-050, VS-060, VS-068, VS-087
Tools and Parts needed
- Philips-Head screwdriver
- Encoder backup battery for VS series robots.
- 410679-0010 - Encoder backup battery
Note:

Step by Step Guide
Step 1Make two new backup batteries ready for use. | |||||||
Step 2Turn the controller power OFF. | |||||||
Step 3Remove the cover from the Encoder Backup Battery Box. Note: | |||||||
Step 4Replace the backup batteries using the procedure below. | NOTE: During replacement, at least one battery should be connected. Disconnecting all batteries loses position data. Be sure to replace all batteries with new ones at one time. Using old and new batteries together shortens the service life. | ||||||
Step 5Put the cover back to the Encoder Backup Battery Box. | Tightening Torque
